HELP MOTHERS IN THEIR SEARCH!
Mothers who gave up their child
The news about the adoption fraud also reached Sri Lanka and more and more mothers who gave up their child are coming forward and seeking help to get into contact with their child. These mothers often don’t have the means for a search nor the information where their child might have gone. Sri Lanka DNA started in 2018 with the handing out of DNA kits to mothers who, often not voluntarily, gave up their child. But not only the mothers do long for their child, but also brothers, sisters and fathers come to us for help.

A MOTHER TELLS HER STORY
”I was 15 years old when I got my first child, a boy. After a year I gave birth to a daughter in the hospital of Negombo. I was married, but my husband was not very nice, he drank a lot.
He forced me to give up my daughter for adoption. She was not allowed to stay with us.
For seven months I looked after her, till she was taken away from me.
On the airport I held her for the last time and fed her. My son and I often think of her.
She will always remain in our hearts.
